The Saint John, Valletta
Formerly a merchant’s residence and shop, The Saint John has been elegantly converted into an intriguing setting. The building has been renovated to highlight its architectural features, while the furnishings are industrialesque, yet warm with a strong focus on guest comfort. Each room pays careful attention to detail, and each one offers a different design and layout. All the styles embody a playful mix of industrial and retro, open-plan spaces and total light control.

Valletta Vintage, Valletta
Rather than a design hotel as such, these self-catering studios were established by illustrious local architect Chris Briffa. The collection grew from one small apartment to five, each housed in buildings older than a hundred years and spread around the city of Valletta and its harbour. The architect renovated the spaces with his elegant signature style - subtly integrating the traditional with the contemporary.

Casa Ellul, Valletta
This boutique hotel focuses on luxury design within a Victorian-period palazzo. The hotel expresses a classically stylish design, drawing on a combination of past Baroque influences and contemporary comfort. Another project designed by Chris Briffa Architects, design with a respect to the past and location is reflected through details such as restored Maltese patterned tiles, walls soaked in art and plush, prestigious antiques, traditional Maltese wooden balconies and contemporary private terraces with stunning views.

SU29 Boutique Hotel, Valletta
Luxury is paramount at SU29 Boutique Hotel, while the prices are reasonable considering the unique experience offered. The hotel's eight rooms are all different, mixing eclectic and whimsical design with comfort and elegance. Clever lighting, subtle colour tones, and floor-to-ceiling windows for spectacular views of the surrounds are a few more design details to expect.
