Gozo in autumn is beautiful! Our greener sister island soars in the months of October and November, as it experiences increased rainfall and way smaller amounts of visitors.
The beaches, valleys, fresh water springs and historical points in Gozo are all worth a visit during this season, but here are a select few of my personal favourites for you to enjoy on your next trip.
Ramla Bay
The picturesque Ramla Bay never fails to impress, but the autumn feel at Ramla is beyond beautiful! Pack a little picnic basket and a couple of blankets and head to the beach for a couple of hours. Bliss!
Xlendi Bay
A great spot for lunch or dinner and the perfect place for some afternoon tea. Xlendi is a picturesque bay full of entertainment spots and leisure outlets, but a quieter side of Xlendi does actually exist - head for the cliffs to find some peace.
Marsalforn
A seaside village that captures the tranquillity of the island with its traditional fishing boats, small chapels and nearby beaches. The Marsalforn area is a great spot to sit and people watch.
The Citadel
The newly renovated Citadella (or Citadel) is found in the heart of Victoria, Rabat. Similar to Valletta and Mdina in concept with its fortified walls, this beautifully structured landmark is well worth a visit.
Mgarr ix-Xini
Mgarr ix-Xini carries some historical worth that is due a mention. This inlet was allegedly used by the knights to hide their galleys during the Ottoman War of 1565. Excellent for a brisk walk and a mellow adventure.
Hondoq ir-Rummien
Hondoq ir-Rummien is an excellent location for diving. With a spectacular view of Comino and Malta above sea level and a vibrant array of marine life underwater, this spot can easily become your favourite on the island.
Wied L-Ghasri
Zebbug’s Wied L-Ghasri can be accessed via unlevelled ground. Visitors will then need to descend a flight of steps to get to this beautiful pebbled cove. We really recommend giving this one a try.
Lunzjata Valley
A fertile valley that is currently used as farming ground where locals take their pick of freshly picked fruit and veggies. The farm to table concept is perfectly executed here.
Ghajn Tuta
Ghajn Tuta is a fresh water spring situated in-between Munxar and Kercem. The ice-cold water flows from the rock into sections divided into washing bays where our ancestors washed their clothes, welcomed their livestock, and frolicked in the blazing hot summers.
Gozo’s undeniable beauty is seen throughout the island. The landscapes, seascapes and iconic structures that tower on the land can be rediscovered again and again.
