The site of Għar Dalam comprises a cave and a site-museum. The lowermost deposits of the Cave are more than 500,000 years old and contain the fossil bones of dwarf elephants, hippopotami and other exotic fauna living here during the Ice Ages, whereas the upper or ‘cultural’ layer yielded evidence of the first Neolithic settlers on the Islands.
