Gozo
Lose yourself in Gozo’s beauty with these 5 scenic routes on the sister island
It’s like you’re walking in paradise.

Kristina Cassar Dowling

The rural environment in Gozo is amazing. Our sister island’s bountiful expression of natural greenery is thriving at this time of year, and its the perfect time to stroll through the countryside and take in all the positive energy that mother nature throws our way.

Here are a few of the island's beauties that make for the perfect start to discovering some of Gozo’s beauty.

Sannap Cliffs, Munxar

The small village of Munxar is blessed with some of the most spectacular views and walks along Sannap Cliffs. Once you find your way to the hidden treasure, you’re in paradise! Be sure to wear your most comfortable shoes as the terrain is pretty unsteady, you’ll need to watch your step if you’re not following the trekker’s path. Gaze on, deep into the horizon and watch the simplicity of local life take shape on the edge of a glorious cliff.

Xlendi Cliffs, Xlendi

Another beautiful set of cliffs, not too far from Sannap but a whole new experience altogether. This destination is best enjoyed during sunset, where the big ball of sunshine gently dips into the spectacular blue waters you’ll be able to spot from miles away. Be sure to make your way down before the sun completely disappears though, as the elevation is quite steep and you’ll need to watch where you’re stepping!

Wied il-Ghasri, Zebbug

This quiet bay is a hidden treasure that has the potential to flank every postcard, magazine advert and billboard on the island - it’s just gorgeous. Walking on the nearby plateau might be slightly less daunting than the flight of stairs taking you down to the rocky bottom, but it’s well worth the effort when you get a glimpse of the picturesque bay.

Il-Fanal ta’ Gordan, Ghasri

This adventure is not for the scaredy cats out there, as legend holds that the lighthouse is haunted. If this little fact excites you, then make your way to the lighthouse now! The views from the top are spectacular, and the lighthouse itself is pretty impressive. The Gordan Lighthouse is found in Ghasri and can be accessed through the village itself.

Above Ramla Bay

The extended version of the Ramla walk starts in Marsalforn, past the statue of the Risen Christ and onto Xaghra. You’ll find yourself in Wied il-Hanaq where you’ll soon hit the most incredible view of Ramla Bay. The red sand juxtaposed with the beautiful blue sea is such a treat for the senses!
