Photography workshop

This workshop is part of the Graphics Lab, a project aimed at picture retouching to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. More information about the lab can be found on its main page and requests pages (Illustrations ; Photographs ; Maps ; Video and Sound). To ask questions or make a suggestions, see the talk page of the graphic lab page.

This specific page is the requests page for the Photography Workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

@Blaze Wolf: , we can certainly make the whole thing transparent (see above), but there is a reason why glassware tends to have a background with them. Should we see through the glassware? Should we see through the liquid inside? What about the surface of that liquid, should we see through that too, or should it reflect its "background", in which case it looks darker when placed on a dark background? What about people browsing Wikipedia using a custom dark mode, will they still be able to see the glassware? There are so many considerations around this; it is better to leave it to writers to decide how they want to present this image. --痛 (talk) 18:31, 17 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ah fair enough. I was mainly requesting it because User:Moops wanted to use it on their talk page instead of the image that was previously there and the white background looked really odd. Request: Merge the latest high-res version (which is tightly cropped) with this low-res full-size version (which is of low quality). When merging both, ensure that the low-quality full-size image matches the colours and dimensions of the high-quality version as closely as possible. There should be a bare spot that both images don't cover on the lower right-hand corner; please fill that in with appropriate colour so the gap isn't noticeable at all. Please upload the final merged version as File:GEN McBride, William Vincent 1 (c) (full size).jpg. The final pixel resolution should be 2400x3000px or more.
