On 27th November, the Qala Local Council will be closing off parts of Mgarr Road to make way for the very first edition of ‘Zerniq bir-Rota’.

This event invites cyclists of all ages to come together and practice their biking skills – away from the dangers of traffic.

Because of this, Qala mayor Paul Buttigieg said, Mgarr Road will be closed to vehicular traffic ‘between the new roundabout and the Biljun bus stop.”

“This initiative is being held thanks to a suggestion made by Michael Bongailas, who put forward this suggestion to our Council,” the Mayor continued.

Mr Buttigieg went on to note that the activity was inspired by Haz-Zebbug Local Councillor Steve Zammit Lupi – an avid supporter of alternative means of transport.
