St George’s Basilica, also known as Gozo’s Golden Basilica, is located in the heart of Victoria. It perfectly displays the embellished Baroque art form through its vibrance and richness of its decor. This picturesque church is known for its Baroque art with its extensive use of marble and gold.
The astonishing parish is coated in marble all throughout and its canopy over the altar contains both bronze and gold. It also houses various notable artworks such as the wooden statue of St George, a solid bronze door and two works by the world-renowned Mattia Preti.
