Error in MOTD description
"...where the eponym character meets Santa Claus," should be "where the eponymous character meets Santa Claus", as it is an adjective. Heavy Water (talk) 21:24, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
POTD: Alder props
{{Edit requested}} Hi. The POTD supposedly shows "alder props (cones without seed)".[1] Why are they defined as 'cones without seed'? This seems like an error to me as alder cones do contain seed.[2] Also, is there any reliable source for the term 'prop'? --TadejM (t/p) 00:12, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- I've temporarily changed the description[3] pending confirmation that everything is fine here. (@User:Well-Informed Optimist) --TadejM (t/p) 00:18, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- I've copied the text from the image description. —Well-Informed Optimist (talk) 10:21, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. As there has been no clarification so far, I've tagged the image with {{Factual accuracy}} and asked the uploader to provide the relevant information to reassure us everything is fine here.[4] --TadejM (t/p) 10:28, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- The cones are open, so no doubt most of the seeds are dispersed. Not sure there is a English term for empty cones, I expect 'props' is just a transliteration from the Dutch. "Empty cones" would suffice. --Tony Wills (talk) 21:51, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. I have now removed {{Factual accuracy}} and slightly rephrased the English description (replaced the unknown term 'props' with 'cones'). Feel welcome to edit it further. --TadejM (t/p) 00:23, 30 December 2022 (UTC)

Picture of the day (20 January 2023)
"A owner of a old book selling store in Kolkata" - How did this get past the proofreaders? PeeJay (talk) 00:25, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- I thought something sounded terribly out of place. English troubles I guess. Although the uploaded caption reads 'The' OtuNwachinemere (talk) 02:52, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
POTD on Valentine's day
Interesting that Valentine day POTD is a picture of insects mating. Subtle? Wilson (talk) 15:33, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Media of the Day error (18 Feb. 2023)
"friendship between the U.S. and China" should link to en:History of China–United States relations, rather than en:China–United States relations, as the specified time (and friendship) was before the establishment of the PRC, which the article currently linked to refers to.
