Beautiful bays, pretty gardens and amazing churches – Gozo has everything you need for maximum holiday envy.
The sister island is an amazing place to beautify your Instagram feed. With so many picturesque spots to choose from, head to these beauties for the ultimate jealousy-inducing holiday snaps!
Wied il-Ghasri
This absolutely gorgeous spot is perfect all year round - for country walks or bike rides in winter and spring and for swimming and sunbathing in summer and early autumn. The bay is very narrow and secluded, so a quiet dip is guaranteed.
Xlendi Bay
Blue-green waters, cliffs and caves, in-built rock steps, a picturesque promenade – is there anything that Xlendi Bay doesn’t have? Whether you’re stopping by for a meal or taking a dip in its sparkling waters, make sure you capture a few photos of this beautiful Gozitan spot.
Ix-Xwejni and Il-Qbajjar
Ix-Xwejni (Xwejni Bay) and il-Qbajjar (Qbajjar Bay) are two beautiful and shallow bays, located right next to each other. The saltpans and pale, chalky rock formations are great places to take an awe-inspiring snap, and the swimming and snorkelling here is pretty exceptional too!
Ta’ Pinu Church
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu (or simply Ta’ Pinu) is one of Gozo’s most famous landmarks, visible as soon as you reach the harbour in Mgarr. Built in a neo-romantic style in the 1930s, it looks stunning night and day, and the mosaic on the parvis is certainly worth a closer look.
Wied il-Mielah
The iconic Azure Window is no longer with us but luckily, there’s another picture-perfect rock formation close by at Wied il-Mielah that’s already gaining popularity on social media.
Cittadella
Not only is the recently-restored Cittadella magnificent in and of itself, it also provides amazing views over Victoria as far as the eye can see.
Villa Rundle
Villa Rundle Garden, planted by and named after General Leslie Rundle, is located in the lower part of Victoria’s Republic Street and is a lovely place for strolling and snapping photos.
Blue Hole Gozo
This is certainly the place to be, both for vertigo-inducing aerial shots as well as jaw-dropping underwater photography – you’d be surprised at the beauty beneath the blue!
Bonus: The famous blue-green bench in Marsalforn
A bench you say? Seriously, of all the picturesque things you can mention about Gozo, you’re choosing a bench? Yes! It would be a shame not to mention this gloriously weird two-tone bench in Marsalforn that everyone and their mum has a photo with – if you stumble upon it, don’t be afraid to join them.
