This area is home to Malta's largest entertainment district. There are so many hotels in the St Julian's area (also covering Paceville) that it's hard to discern which ones might be best. Since there's so much competition, most of them are of a relatively high standard, so it's truly a matter of taste and budget.

Hilton Malta is probably the best pick for those who are looking for luxury, with its sumptuous materials and opulent design. Everything about the Hilton screams five-star - the rooms, the restaurants and cafes, the pool areas and the high-end executive and conference facilities available.

The Westin offers an American classic understated elegance, and the glamorous Dragonara Beach Resort, which is a long-standing beach club with various peninsulas, a pool, and an exclusive beach where there's something fab for everyone.

Located on the busy commercial St George's Bay, InterContinental Malta is the 5-star hotel you'll want to stay at for business trips or conferences. Their state of the art conference facilities go over and beyond the surrounding hotels - and apart from the in-hotel leisure facilities, there are incredible restaurants, as well as a sandy beach within a one-minute walking distance.

Sliema is one of the busiest centres on the island for clothes shopping and café hopping. With the largest malls situated within a relatively small area, this is the place to stay in if shopping is a priority on your trip to the island. Sliema is also home to a high number of gaming company offices, which means that it's become a convenient area to stay if you're on the island for a business trip within the industry.

Valletta, European Capital 2108 is home to a host of newly opened boutique hotels, although the recently renovated Phoenicia Hotel has been a part of Valletta's accommodation scene since 1947.
