The best city-centre hotels in Malta
While you're never really far from the action is Malta, there fantastic hotels are smack in the middle of city and town centres for those who want a piece of the action pronto.

PACEVILLE / ST. JULIANS
ST JULIAN'S
This area is home to Malta's largest entertainment district. There are so many hotels in the St Julian's area (also covering Paceville) that it's hard to discern which ones might be best. Since there's so much competition, most of them are of a relatively high standard, so it's truly a matter of taste and budget.

Hilton Malta
ST JULIAN'S: Hilton Malta (5 star)
Hilton Malta is probably the best pick for those who are looking for luxury, with its sumptuous materials and opulent design. Everything about the Hilton screams five-star - the rooms, the restaurants and cafes, the pool areas and the high-end executive and conference facilities available.

The Westin Dragonara Resort (5 star)
ST JULIAN'S: The Westin Dragonara Resort (5 star)
The Westin offers an American classic understated elegance, and the glamorous Dragonara Beach Resort, which is a long-standing beach club with various peninsulas, a pool, and an exclusive beach where there's something fab for everyone.

InterContinental Malta (5 star)
ST JULIAN'S: InterContinental Malta (5 star)
Located on the busy commercial St George's Bay, InterContinental Malta is the 5-star hotel you'll want to stay at for business trips or conferences. Their state of the art conference facilities go over and beyond the surrounding hotels - and apart from the in-hotel leisure facilities, there are incredible restaurants, as well as a sandy beach within a one-minute walking distance.

be hotel
ST JULIAN'S: be.HOTEL (4 star)
Conveniently located within the Bay Street Complex, be.HOTEL is a designer-styled haven right within the busiest part of Paceville. Conversely, this hotel is perfect for those who are either looking for 24-hour entertainment or for a business stay. The newly renovated in-house conference facilities are impressive, but the hotel is also within walking distance of all the main conference hotels in the area.

MDINA
MDINA
Mdina is the medieval, fortified city dubbed "the silent city" for its pedestrian policy. The city has retained it's Norman and Baroque architecture, as well as medieval charm with lamp-posted narrow, windy streets, horse carriages and palazzos that have retained their character.

SLIEMA
SLIEMA
Sliema is one of the busiest centres on the island for clothes shopping and café hopping. With the largest malls situated within a relatively small area, this is the place to stay in if shopping is a priority on your trip to the island. Sliema is also home to a high number of gaming company offices, which means that it's become a convenient area to stay if you're on the island for a business trip within the industry.

SLIEMA: The Palace Hotel (5 star)
Apart from being a really comfortable hotel in Malta's main shopping district, The Palace offers distant sea views from the 9th floor rooftop pool and restaurant area that are totally different to what you might expect in any other European city. The hotel has become popular for its excellent conference and meeting facilities, and is also within walking distance to a lot of gaming companies based in Sliema.

A beautiful example of Art Deco architecture, the recently renovated Phoenicia Hotel is built in Maltese limestone and has a number of elements typical of Maltese architecture. The building has a chevron shape, and its grounds contain extensive gardens.
