This manmade cave is situated in the limits of San Lawrenz, further south from Dwejra Bay. It is thought to have been created as a monument consecrated to the nymphs, especially those presiding over springs, hence why it is referred to as the nymphaeum. These classical mythological creatures’ attribution was caved during the Phoenician times and used as a religious sanctuary. It is currently situated on private land, therefore inaccessible to the public without authorisation of the owners.
