Abandoned rock-cut passage discovered during construction of Gozo-Valletta fast ferry terminal
When you think you’ve seen it all, another beautiful discovery is made! An abandoned rock-cut passage was recently discovered during the construction of the new Gozo-Valletta Fast Ferry Terminal.
The passage is found beneath the City’s bastions and was “possibly used as a World War II air-raid shelter,” Infrastructure Malta said on socials.
“We are consulting heritage authorities to incorporate access to this site in a new pedestrian route to the City centre, with the possibility of eventually opening it to the public as part of Malta’s cultural heritage.”
