Mgarr-based restaurant Bohini has decided to limit the age of its customers to over 18, in a move to offer a “tranquil experience” for patrons, it shared on Sunday.
“Definitely not an easy decision to take, but we believe it’s the way forward to keep on providing a tranquil experience in a small establishment,” the restaurant’s management said.
This was met with outbursts on social media, with many calling it a “stupid decision” and one that will “lose them many customers”, particularly since commenters claim it was a restaurant a number of families used to opt for.
“Children can behave better than some adults sometimes. To enjoy a tranquil place, people should stay at home alone. Such a pity for this decision. Bohini has closed its door for my family forever unfortunately,” one frequent client commented on the social media post.
"Well that's extreme. I hope your business doesn't take a big hit because of this. I guess I can't bring my family now," another customer said.
While the majority of comments online expressed anger at the new rule, there were a few who welcomed the move. Only time will tell whether Bohini will manage to carve out a unique space in the market catering to adults only - a rare move for the local catering industry.
Situated in the heart of Mgarr, Bohini launched in 2018 with the aim of providing an “enjoyable and genuine dining experience”. Apart from regular dine-ins, it also occasionally hosts events with a focus on having "something for everyone to enjoy".
