The Cathedral Museum is housed in an elegant baroque palace . Biult as a seminary in the second quarter of the 18th century by Bishop Paul Alpharan de Bussan, this architectural harmonious biulding stands nobly opposite the Palace of the Archbishop and on the side of the magnificent Cathedral. There are two main figures flanking the main door supporting the balustered central balcony. This Museum boasts of its unique Albrecht Dürer collection. 80 original prints of this highly gifted and versatile German artist of the Renaissance period, forming part of a large bequest by Conti Marchese who has also donated the panel collection one can find in the Marchese Hall. In the ground level, one can also find fifteen Silver Statues dating back from 1741 and 1743, made by the Roman silversmith Antonio Arrighi, various other echlesiastical and domestic silver. The Museum has work by Caravaggist painter Mario Minniti, as well as paintings by the Italian artists Mattia Preti and Agostino Carracci. The Sala Nobile, has just been decorated with the most beautiful maltese rich inlaid furniture, making it a one off hall in Malta, paintings of Mattia Preti, Antoine Favrey and Francesco Zahra amongst others, fine ceramics and silverware dating to the period of the Grandmasters and othr ceramic ornaments.  Without doubt, the eclectic Mdina Cathedral Museum is one of Malta’s most formidable place to visit.
