Håvard Enstad will perform 14 of his own compositions at the Concert Hall of Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta this Saturday
This Saturday, 22nd October, the Malta Society of Arts (MSA) will be hosting an exclusive piano concert titled Soundscapes by Norwegian musician and composer Håvard Enstad.
Taking place at the MSA’s Hall within Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta, the concert will present and impressive total of 14 of Enstad’s own compositions.
This will be the first time that the established Scandinavian musician will be visiting the island and sharing his work with local audiences.
“Some of the works are from my latest album called Patterns. However, I’m very excited to announce that a number of the pieces will have their world premiere at the concert in Malta!”, exclaims the musician.
Describing his style, Enstad maintains that his music is very much inspired by folk music from around the globe.
“One can definitely hear Scandinavian influences in my music, but I also use a lot of Balkan rhythms and Middle Eastern tonalities,” he expressed.
“I use elements from Baroque music and minimalistic music as well. This is my personal language, and it somehow comes through when I compose”, he continued.
Since this is the first time that Enstad will be visiting the island, he is looking forward to discovering some local history.
“I would like to discover some of Malta’s iconic historical places, its cosy towns, its beautiful coastline and crystal-clear waters,” adds Enstad.
“But most of all, I am looking forward to sharing my work with a new audience, hoping that it will be well received.”
Some of the titles of the piano pieces reveal the journey around the world and beyond that listeners will take - The Forest, Avenida 17, Armenia, Leaving Can Simón, Koral, Eclipses, Norwegian Harp and Butterfly are but some of the compositions Enstad will be presenting.
