The best things in life are free.
Kit required: shorts, flip flops or a sandal equivalent and the loosest t-shirt you own.
Company: anyone who can appreciate the simplicity of life.
Promenade stroll
Why not enjoy a brisk walk on the Sliema or Bugibba promenade while the sun gently sets; lighting up the horizon as you wander along the paved route? Even though the summers can get pretty hot in Malta, the evenings are bearable, and especially by the water; extremely enjoyable. Avoiding the sea in Malta is like trying to avoid sand in a desert; you’re bound to find a quiet or bustling promenade that catches your fancy.
Chill on a beach
All you need to enjoy an evening on the beach is a guitar or guitar-playing friend, a couple of beers from the store and a beach towel. Don’t be fooled; you will want to swim even though the sun’s called it a day - the sea is so inviting when the sun’s gone down and the majority of the day-beachers head home. Whatever you do, don’t forget the mosquito repellent - they will eat you alive.
Snap some shots
Totally free and totally rewarding - if you're a visitor to our island; take it all in and take a few shots of all the quirky things our islands have to offer to treasure the memories. If you’re local, this is your chance to be a tourist for a day; waltz through the narrow alleyways; find the hidden relics, discover something new and share it with the world… via Instagram, of course.
People watch
If you’re Maltese and reading this, you might think you know the ‘people watching’ routine like the back of your hand; but why not spice it up a little? Find a village square; locate an isolated bench, take a seat and sit in silence. Take a look at what’s going on around you, be the observer for an evening. Maybe you could take a sketchbook, write a story, connect with the creative soul hidden within. You never know, you might enjoy it.
Adventure
Whatever you do with your evenings in Malta, make sure you get lost! It’s so exciting! Wandering around the streets; looking around for signs that may lead you to familiar ground, hunting for the tourist-areas as if they were hidden treasure. Seeking adventure in life gives us the adrenaline rush that keeps us spontaneous - it’s thrilling yet entirely safe. If you get really lost, all you’ll need to do is call a taxi.
Malta is a maze, full of hidden corners, unseen beauties and unrecognised wealth - use your evenings to discover the simpler things in life.
