Alongside Nicosia in Cyprus and Heraklion in Crete, Valletta is officially the warmest European city right now with temperatures reaching 22°C.
While we didn’t expect to have a white Christmas (even though some of us would love that!), going around in t-shirts in the middle of December is certainly not what one thinks of at this time of year.
And if you’re feeling hot today, it’s set to get worse (or better, it depends on how you look at it). Many are anticipating Friday to be the warmest day ever recorded in December, according to the local weather page Maltese Islands Weather.
So far, the highest temperature registered in December hit the 24.9°C back in December 1987.
Summer lovers are on a roll at the moment, with many expressing their happiness at still being able to walk barefoot on the beach, or at the very least, not get out their bulky winter jumpers as yet.
Our friends in northern Europe, on the other hand, are knee-deep in snow and freezing temperatures. Many people are even having issues coming back home from their trips since runways in some of Europe’s major cities are currently frozen.
