It’s going to be a weekend, as the islands gear up to welcome His Holiness Pope Francis for a two-day visit. 

In preparation for his arrival, local authorities have cleared all the roads that he will be passing through from parked cars and closed some off to traffic   

The Pontiff will predominantly travel in his official car, but the popemobile will be used in Valletta, Floriana, and Gozo.  

Most streets in Valletta and Floriana have already been closed off and will remain closed until 6pm on Sunday. 

The rest of the streets will be closed for a few hours before the motorcade passes through and opened again shortly afterwards.
