195mm of rain fell in Birkirkara alone, where normal amounts usually total 83mm. However, despite all that rainfall, October temperatures remained relatively warm, with an average temperature of 21.7°C during the day.

According to FirstMalta, the storms that were experienced all over the islands were the result of low pressure forming over the Sahara Desert, bringing warm temperatures, strong winds, and blood rain, more commonly known as xita tal-ħamrija.

This week we’re experiencing an Indian summer, or is-sajf ta’ San Martin as the locals call it, with temperatures climbing to highs of 23°C during the day. So enjoy the gorgeous weather while it lasts, before it's back to thunderstorms and rain!
