According to the local weather site FirstMalta, rainfall in October on the Maltese Islands sky rocketed, breaking the record of being the rainiest October for the last 68 years, with fewer hours of sunshine than normally expected!

195mm of rain fell in Birkirkara alone, where normal amounts usually total 83mm. However, despite all that rainfall, October temperatures remained relatively warm, with an average temperature of 21.7°C during the day.

According to FirstMalta, the storms that were experienced all over the islands were the result of low pressure forming over the Sahara Desert, bringing warm temperatures, strong winds, and blood rain, more commonly known as xita tal-ħamrija.
