This week, local adventurer Angelo hopped on the Gozo ferry to conquer one of the islands most dominant hills.
Most commonly known as Saviour’s Hill or Merzuq Hill, this spot is instantly recognisable because it’s topped with a miniature version of Rio De Janeiro’s ‘Christ the Redeemer’ statue.
The Gozitan version of the statue is made from concrete and is five times smaller than the original, making it six metres high by six metres wide, to be exact.
The 51-year-old statue is found in the village of Masralforn, and it stands a whopping 320 feet above sea level.
The hike may be challenging, but the panoramic view from the top is most definitely worth it.
Angelo suggests using the already existing pathways when visiting to avoid disrupting the surroundings and destroying flora and fauna surrounding this precious landmark.
Good luck on your next adventure!
