Maltese athletes are making Malta proud at the COJI island games after already winning Gold, Silver and Bronze in the first day of the games in Mallorca.

The COJI island games, also known as the ‘Jeux des îles’ is an annual sporting event where youth athletes from 23 member countries, specifically from European islands, compete for a place on the podium in vast range of sports.

The Games were created in 1989 by Mr. Pierre Santoni, chairman of the Corsican Olympic and Regional Sports Committee and Malta has taken part since 2004.

Sonique Gatt is coming home with Gold after snatching the top crown at the Hammer event.

Kareem Chouhal has already snatched two medals. After winning the silver in the Shot Put event, he quickly went on to win the bronze in the Hammer event.

The games still have three days ago so fingers crossed for the Maltese medal toll to keep increasing!

What an incredible achievement!
