What does typical December weather look like in Malta?
Don’t worry, Decembers in Malta are still pretty warm and sunny…

Planning to visit Malta this December and wondering what the weather will look like and what clothes to pack? Well, here is everything you need to know…

Malta’s December weather tends to reach an average of 18 which cools to a chilly 11°C at night. So, make sure to pack some toasty clothes to keep you warm especially when you go out at night.

It rarely ever falls below 8°C so don’t expect any extreme cold or low temperatures.

The sea temperature averages at around 19°C which means most people don’t usually go swimming around this time of the month, but the sea is more than welcoming if you’re up for a fresh and cold swim. However, it’s important not to risk going in the water if the winds are strong.

You might also come across the occasional rain but when it comes, it’s usually in short showers so it shouldn’t ruin a lovely and fun day out.

Of course, this is not always the case as there have been years in the past where Malta was faced with cold and stormy weather throughout December. However, it looks like this is quite unlikely for December 2022.

Most days are expected to be extremely sunny however there will also be the occasional rain on a few days here and there.

A thunderstorm is also predicted between the 19th and 21st but it should clear just in time for Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

This however may change as time goes by so make sure to check this website for constant updates.
