January is one of the wettest months of the year, meaning rainfall is frequent. When it starts raining, it doesn’t last long but its often in heavy bursts. So, make sure to pack a sturdy set of boots and umbrella as Malta also tends to flood easily.
During the month of January, temperature in Malta usually averages at around 13°C. It will be quite warm during the day, but you’ll definitely need to layer up come night time as temperatures usually fall below 10°C as soon as the sun sets.
If you’re thinking of going for a leisurely swim, think again. The sea temperatures usually averages at around 17°C. But hey if you’re up for a cold and refreshing swim, go for it. But do keep an eye out for jellyfish as this time of year tends to be their breeding season.
